1 / New to Mahjong?

I've never played mahjong. Is this studio for me?
Absolutely. Mahj Studios welcomes every skill level, from complete beginners to seasoned players.

Our Mahj Foundations class is built specifically for newcomers, walking you through the essential skills, rules, and strategy in a warm, low-pressure setting.

You don't have to be a member to access our classes, book a table, attend our events, or book private lessons.

What if I want to play but I'm still learning?
When you book Studio Play, let us know your skill level. We'll match you with players at a similar experience level so every table feels comfortable and fun.

Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourself! We provide everything you need to play: tiles, tables, and a warm cup of tea.

Are there instructors on site during Studio Play?

Yes. During designated daily Guided Play hours, Mahj Studios instructors are present on the playing floor to help facilitate games, answer questions, and offer guidance as you play.

If you are a beginner, we request that you take a class before reserving a table. Guided Play is designed to provide support and advice along the way, rather than full instruction on how to play.

Our classes will give you the foundation and confidence to feel comfortable once you take your seat on the Studio floor.

Is parking available at Mahj Studios?

Yes. Complimentary parking is plentiful and conveniently located on-site for our guests. On select high-volume days and during special events, we will also offer complimentary valet service for a seamless arrival.

Is the studio ADA accessible?

Yes. We have a designated ADA entrance and ADA restrooms.

Is Mahj Studios BYOB?

Mahj Studios is a fully hosted experience, with an in-house bar and food program curated to complement your time at the table. For this reason, outside beverages are not permitted.

Can I buy my own set and accessories from Mahj Studios?

Yes. A curated selection of mahjong sets and accessories is available through the Mahj Studios Shoppe in person at the Atlanta location and online, including exclusive designs created especially for the Studio.

Can I host a private event at Mahj Studios?

Yes. Please visit our Private Events tab to explore hosting an event at Mahj Studios. Beverage and catering packages are available to complement your gathering and can be tailored to the occasion.

What membership options do you offer?
We offer three tiers: Bamboo ($200/month) for casual, regular play; Circle ($350/month) for unlimited access and priority booking. Character tier is for our most dedicated members, including access to our private Character tier playing room. Full details are on our Membership page.

Do I need a membership to play?
Not at all. Anyone can book a session as a non-member. Membership simply unlocks included sessions, guest passes, and member pricing on classes and private lessons.

What's the difference between a membership and booking a single session?
A membership is ongoing access at a set monthly or annual rate, with sessions included depending on your tier. A single-session booking is pay-as-you-go, no commitment required — a great way to try the studio before joining.

Can I bring guests as a member?
Yes, membership tiers include a set number of guest passes each month, letting you bring friends at no additional charge.

Are memberships limited?

Yes. Membership at Mahj Studios is intentionally limited to preserve the quality of the experience, ensure meaningful access to reservations and programming, and maintain the sense of community that defines the Studio. Once membership reaches capacity, a waitlist will be established.

Does my membership include table sessions, or do I pay separately each time?

Your membership includes sessions as part of your monthly rate — no separate charge each time you book.

Bamboo members receive 4 included sessions per month. Additional sessions beyond that are available at a member rate of $45.
Circle members enjoy unlimited included sessions every month.
Character members also enjoy unlimited included sessions, along with access to our private playing room.

Guests you bring are priced separately, though Circle and Character members receive guest passes each month to share the table at no extra cost.

3 / Booking & Reservations

How do I book a class or session?
You can reserve your spot directly through our online booking system. Choose from Studio Play, Classes, or Private Lessons, select a date and time, and confirm your booking. You'll need a Mahj Studios account to book.

How far in advance can I reserve a table?
Members receive priority booking access, and remaining reservations are released to the public seven days in advance.

Can I bring guests?
Yes! When booking, you can add guests to your reservation. Just enter their names during checkout. Guests don't need their own accounts. Your booking covers them.

How many guests can I bring?
Guest capacity depends on the session you're booking and your membership tier. You'll always see exactly how many guest spots are available to you before you confirm.

Can I come alone?
Absolutely! Select a single when you make a reservation. We will match you with other guests at a similar skill level to complete your table.

What happens if a class is full?
If your preferred session is at capacity, you can join the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, our team will confirm your reservation and notify you by email and text.

How do I manage or change my reservation?
Log in to your account and visit "My Bookings" to view, modify, or cancel any upcoming reservations, including updating your guest list.

4 / Accounts & Profiles

Do I need an account to book?
Yes, a Mahj Studios account is required to make reservations. Creating one is free and only takes a moment.

How do I update my contact information?
You can update your name, phone number, and other details anytime from the "My Account" page after logging in.

I forgot my password. What do I do?
Use the "Forgot Password" option on the login screen to reset it via email.

5/ Cancellations & Waitlists

What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel your reservation up to 24 hours before your session at no charge.

Cancellations within 24 hours of your session should be made by calling the studio directly. Fees may apply.

If I cancel, does my spot go to someone on the waitlist?
Yes, when a spot opens up, our team reviews the waitlist and confirms the next available reservation.

How will I know if I get off the waitlist?
You'll receive a confirmation email and text as soon as your waitlist spot is secured, with your session details.
